A group of trekkers are walking the Flinders Ranges to raise funds to support the fight against dementia.

The third National Fire Industry Association (NFIA) Patron's Annual Walk for Charity will once again take place in 2024. From 2019-2022, this event has raised over $765,000 in medical research and veteran support. The Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) at The University of Queensland and Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF) have been the fortunate beneficiaries of these funds.

In Australia, one in five people experiences mental health symptoms every year. Mental health research is a critical area of discovery that QBI researchers are focussed on and each year QBI hosts a mental health webinar, during Mental health Week, to discuss important topics related to mental health research.

This event is a Dementia fundraiser event, supporting the Alastair Rushworth Alzheimer’s Research Fund to continue the work of the Clem Jones Centre for Ageing Dementia Research at QBI. In 2022, the QBI Lexus Spring High Tea will be hosted in the ballroom at the Victoria Park Golf Club. The afternoon will include high tea with French champagne.
