Professor Gail Robinson has developed a new diagnostic tool to assess cognitive function in people who have experienced a stroke. This tool is called The Brief Executive Language Screening Test (BELS). It takes 20 minutes and can quickly assess cognitive functions at the bedside, which is critical for information rehabilitation targets so that the person can recover to function independently in their first year.

In this informative podcast, Professor Robinson discusses:

  • Stroke symptoms and causes
  • Warning signs of a stroke
  • The window that the BELS test can be taken to best inform recovery
  • The typical clinical pathway of a stroke patient
  • Lifestyle factors that can cause a stroke
