Help us understand the brain and make a world of difference to people facing devastating brain disorders, which account for over 40 per cent of the disease burden in Australia.
Together we can understand more about the brain, improve treatments and, importantly, develop preventative tools as well as long-term treatments for brain and mental health disorders such as dementia, schizophrenia, motor neurone disease, and anxiety and depression.
Current fundraising initiatives include:
Concussion
Brain Research Endowment Fund
Dementia
Early Career Researchers - Emeritus Professor Perry Bartlett AO Fellowship Fund
Mental Health Research
MND Research - Ross Maclean Senior Research Fellowship
Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
Parkinson's Disease
Priority Research Fund

Brain Research Endowment Fund
Discoveries at the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) are the critical lifeline
to solving many of the health problems facing the world today.
To solve these big problems we need innovative thinking, which is why we
developed the QBI Brain Research Endowment Fund. This fund enables
your donation to go further, grow over time and make a lasting impact.
Your help will support researchers; provide financial backing for early stage,
curiosity-driven research which may lead to the next big scientific discovery –
all with the potential to have an enormous impact on solving major health issues,
including dementia, depression, anxiety, and stroke.
Mental Health Research
Our scientists focus on research to unravel the neurological
foundation of disorders such as depression, schizophrenia,
Autism Spectrum Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,
and addiction.
This is critical to understanding why these conditions develop
and how we achieve personalised treatments that improve
treatment effectiveness. Support of research in this area will
help progress understanding of why people develop mental
health disorders and potential treatment solutions.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a group of related brain disorders
with an average life expectancy of only 2-3 years after diagnosis.
Your support will continue vital research into MND.
Parkinson's Disease
Your support can help revolutionise the diagnosis and
treatment of neurological disease. Researchers and clinicians
at the Asia-Pacific Centre for Neuromodulation assist people
suffering from Parkinson's disease, Dystonia, Essential Tremor
and Tourette's syndrome through research, education and clinical care.
Stroke Research
Your support will help fund vital research into how
we can improve recovery following stroke.
Stroke is Australia's third highest cause of death.
50,000 people will suffer a stroke each year, and there
are nearly half a million stroke survivors in Australia
living with physical and mental disabilities.
