Give for the Future: Garry and Gaye Waugh
"There’s so much about the brain we don’t know anything about, and we hope our involvement with QBI increases our understanding of what really is the most complex organ in the universe” – Garry Waugh.
Garry and Gaye Waugh support fundamental research at QBI because of the possibilities it provides. “You really don’t know where it’s going to lead, what’s going to come out of it”, Garry says. He admits this level of uncertainty doesn’t appeal to everyone, but believes the opportunities far outweigh the negatives.
“You hear stories about discoveries that have happened completely by chance and gone on to translate to any number of life-saving benefits: to be a part of that possibility is tremendously exciting”.
Garry and Gaye understand that progress of this scope takes time, and that their contributions will help QBI to better understand the brain.
“Gaye and I have made a commitment to each other and to QBI to give each and every year, to provide the stability that is so necessary for the researchers to make progress. We hope our contributions contribute to QBI’s understanding of the brain, which in time, may lead to life-changing medical advancements”.
