Travel support is available to our higher degree by research students from QBI and/or the UQ Graduate School.

Candidate Development Award (CDA)

The UQ Graduate School CDA supports development activities and associated travel costs, of up to AUD$5000, for UQ research students. Please refer the UQ Graduate School CDA website for more information and application details.

QBI Travel Allowance

QBI offers travel support of up to AUD$3500 to PhD students enrolled through QBI, and based at the Institute, who have attained their Mid-Candidature Review (M2) milestone and who are to present at a domestic or international conference. Travel support is provided to give QBI students the opportunity to present their research, and to pursue postdoctoral positions.

To apply, students should email the Higher Degree by Research Liaison Officer, Mr Baron Joye, at, with detailed information about the conference including dates, location, and a statement justifying how participation will be of benefit. Students must also provide evidence, as soon as possible, showing that they have been invited to present at the conference and that their paper has been accepted. Students must have the support of their Principal Advisor to participate in the conference and the Advisor should email to confirm.
