UQ Support Services
Discrimination and Harassment Contact Officers
Discrimination and Harassment Contact Officers (DHCOs) are trained UQ staff members. Students and staff can contact them with enquiries related to discrimination, harassment and bullying, including about:
- UQ policies
- grievance resolution procedures
- access to support services that are internal and external to UQ
DHCOs do not provide legal advice. You can contact any of the trained Discrimination and Harassment Contact Officers (DHCOs) for information and assistance. You are not restricted to DHCOs in your particular area or at the same campus.

Employee Assist Program (EAP)
Staff and their immediate family members can access the EAP, a free and confidential wellbeing, coaching and counselling service.
You can use it for:
- personal wellbeing coaching, and individual counselling and support
- coaching for managers around supporting team members, or their own wellbeing at work
- nutrition and diet advice
- personal financial wellbeing
- domestic violence referral service
- tips, tools, and resources for your own overall wellbeing
The program is provided by Benestar, UQ's wellbeing and employee assistance provider, through qualified practitioners.

UQ Union (students)
UQU represents the interests of UQ students and runs independent services, events and outlets to enhance the student experience including Student Advocacy and Support (SAS); 11 retail, food and beverage outlets and a fantastic campus culture. As an independent body, UQU represent students on all important university committees to ensure their voices are heard on all university matters.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (ATSIS) Unit (students)
The University of Queensland established the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (ATSIS) Unit in 1984 as a commitment to the learning, discovery and engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The ATSIS Unit strongly supports and encourages the celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and recognises the enormous contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people bring to UQ.
The ATSIS Unit works closely with faculties, schools, central units and the wider UQ community to provide a range of professional services and academic support for UQ’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
