The Queensland Emory Drug Discovery Initiative (QEDDI)
Title: Queensland Emory Drug Discovery Initiative – a partner for translating your research into new medicines
Abstract: QEDDI is a dedicated small molecule drug discovery capability based at UQ. In its 8 years’ of operations, QEDDI has successfully translated biomedical research into drug candidates, which were designed from the outset to address unmet patient need drawing on clinical and market feedback. With a focus on building highly collaborative teams focused on translation, QEDDI projects bring together scientific experts from academia with experienced drug discovery scientists recruited from industry. Through NCRIS funding, supported by Therapeutic Innovation Australia, QEDDI’s unique offering is integrated drug discovery, comprising medicinal chemistry, drug discovery biology and computational chemistry. In partnering with QEDDI for drug discovery, you are bolting on a small biotech team to your research group to develop new therapies. In this seminar Dr Andrew Harvey will present on QEDDI’s drug discovery capabilities and how QBI researchers can partner with QEDDI, and Dr Grant Stuchbury will present case studies on QEDDI’s programs in neurodegeneration.
About Neuroscience Seminars
Neuroscience seminars at the QBI play a major role in the advancement of neuroscience in the Asia-Pacific region. The primary goal of these seminars is to promote excellence in neuroscience through the exchange of ideas, establishing new collaborations and augmenting partnerships already in place.
Seminars in the QBI Auditorium on Level 7 are held on Wednesdays at 12-1pm, which are sometimes simulcast on Zoom (with approval from the speaker). We also occassionally hold seminars from international speakers via Zoom. The days and times of these seminars will vary depending on the time zone of the speaker.
