Invasive neuromonitoring for severe traumatic brain injury

Invasive neuromonitoring plays a pivotal role in the management of patients with acute brain injury, offering real-time insights into cerebral physiology that guide individualised care and improve outcomes. This presentation explores contemporary applications and evidence for invasive neuromonitoring in TBI, including intracranial pressure (ICP) and brain tissue oxygen (PbtO₂) monitoring. Case-based discussions will illustrate how multimodal neuromonitoring informs decisions around cerebral perfusion, metabolic crisis, and secondary injury prevention, while also addressing controversies in threshold-based versus individualised approaches and emerging technologies including machine learning integration.
